VTE prophylaxis in surgical patients

Hi All,
I am happy to be joining you from Monadnock Community Hospital!

Is anyone using heparin with post-op CS patients as routine care?

We are not doing that here at Gifford. We do use sequential compression devices on their lower extremities and early ambulation starting within 12 hrs. If a patient was very high risk for DVT I might consider it, but we have not done it yet.
