VTE prophylaxis in surgical patients

Hi All,
I am happy to be joining you from Monadnock Community Hospital!

Is anyone using heparin with post-op CS patients as routine care?

Thanks,
Elizabeth

We are not doing that here at Gifford. We do use sequential compression devices on their lower extremities and early ambulation starting within 12 hrs. If a patient was very high risk for DVT I might consider it, but we have not done it yet.
