IV Push Labetalol

Implementing crisis hypertensive guidelines in OB. Does your facility require cardiac monitoring for OB/PP patient? Is there any evidence available re: this?

Our hospital does push IV labetalol on the OB floor for severe range HTN. Our policy does NOT require cardiac monitoring for this purpose. Cardiac monitoring IS required for IV labetalol drip. We are a community hospital that does approximately 700 deliveries per year.
